On March 30, 1971, a fierce battle of the Khan army took place in Moyna village 4 kilometers north of Gopalpur of Lalpur upazila. On the next day, Major Raja, who was shot by the Pak army, was shot dead by local people. Apart from this, the local freedom fighter will not allow the Pakistani army to land at the Ishwardi airport.

In spite of this incident, situation was in tatters at Gopalpur, but in order to continue the national organization for the interests of the peasants of this area, all of them belonged to the mills.

On that day, on 5th May, the work was going on in between the situation. With the help of some Razakars in the red saloon cloth band at around 10:00 am, a team of Pakistani occupation forces entered the campus on the outskirts of the camp and on the false allegations of the killing of the army and the assassination of the Pak army officer, then Mr. Anwarul Azim, administrator of the mill and other officers, called the workers Kill the brutish fray at the side of the pond in front of the present guest house They left the pond and left.

After the independence of the country, the pond mentioned as 'Shaheed Sagar' was named. As far as it is known, before the name of 'Shahid Sagar', the pond was known as 'Gopal Sea'. In the memory of Shaheed Anwarul Azim in 1973, local Gopalpur railway station was named as 'Azimanagar Station'.
